Tell us about you
I'm a designer and have been working to shape Kano's form language for the last 5 years. I’m driven by opportunities to re-define the expected form and use of objects and working together with people who know a lot more than I do in different fields to make it happen.
Tell us a fun fact about you
I won ‘Bargain Hunt’ with another Kano employee one time.
What is your biggest fear?
Spreadsheets.
Why did you join Kano?
As part of the team working on the first kano kit, I got inspired by the mission and the opportunity to create a studio within the organization, in order to concept and produce products in a way that is truly end-to-end, free from some of the constraints you sometimes have in studio work.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
In work — getting the chance to show our kano PC to Satya Nadella in person, or that our products have been able to help bring computing to people in places where it is much harder to have access to technology, over the years.
If you could give your younger self 1 piece of advice, what would it be?
Be less dogmatic — things change too fast for you to be set in your ways.
What is the single most valuable thing you’ve ever learned?
Nothing is ever easy if it is to be good.
My secret passion is…/ guilty pleasure
Skateboarding? Although I don’t really feel guilty about it…
In the next 5 years, the biggest thing I want to achieve is…
Seeing memes made by kids who grew up on Kano about nostalgic memories of our products, the way that you might see a meme about Tamagotchis now.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I used to be the National Archery Champion under 16.
How do you think your colleagues will describe you in one year?
The same but probably balder.
