Hello! The name’s Jon, born and raised in the city of London and Cambridge.
I’ve been a creative and tech enthusiast ever since I picked up a Super Nintendo controller (really showing my age) when I was a kid. One of my traits is that I am always curious and willing to try and learn new things. This trait has brought me to meet amazing people all over the world, learning different cultures, exploring the world, and of course, be fascinated by everything new in science and technology.
“I wish I had this when I was young.” was the first thing that came to mind when I thought about joining Kano. The ideology resonates with me personally. I joined Kano to make a contribution to the vision the company is going for in hopes to inspire new generations and bring positivity to the world of tech.
I actually didn’t pursue art and design until after high school/secondary school. I was on the fence about whether to take Physics or Art as a major. I took physics initially but then decided a year later after GCSE’s to pivot to something I really enjoy. Which is being creative. So I studied Art during A-levels then I went on to do a National Diploma to further study Design. It — I guess “stunted” me back a few years but it was well worth the grind. I’m a lot happier now.
I’m a huge gamer. I live and breathe it. On weekends sometimes — I purposely stay up REALLY late to make the most of it by playing RPGs or playing games with friends. Another fun fact about me is that I listened to 267,450 minutes of music last year… yeah I love music.
My biggest accomplishment was building my first PC at age 11! In the next five years, I want to have experienced Music Production and to get my personal clothing brand to a high standard. (As a hobby of course)
People will describe me as, “the guy that just loves food”. In all seriousness, I hope within one year that I hope to inspire and be inspired by my colleagues. It’s always important to support each other and have a high level of respect for everyone (these guys are super talented) in their craft.
My biggest fear is staying stagnant. Not feeling a sense of personal growth whether it’s working on skills, learning, or wellbeing. There’s so much the world has to offer.
Whatever you enjoy, really go for it and indulge in it. If you don’t like it, at least you know what it’s like in the future.
The most important thing I have learned is that what you enjoy as a hobby, you can get a job if you care enough. Then ultimately it wouldn’t feel like a job!
