What is your name and job title?
Logan Hickle, EDU Marketing Specialist.
What is your story? How did you get to Kano?
Born and raised between South Texas & Florida I attended Sam Houston State University and enrolled in the Marketing program. After many applications with different companies, and rounds of interviews at Kano, I got the call to join the team while at Walden Pond.
That was August 2018, now 2 years and 4 months in, I’m glad that I didn’t miss that phone call.
Why are you at Kano?
My previous job was with a global company of 250,000+ employees. I wanted to see how life was like at a small technology company where I could reach directly out to the CEO on a daily basis if needed. I was looking to move over to a technology company, one that was small and moved quickly.
At Kano, the team is this incredible group of thinkers (& more importantly, doers). Individuals who bring their own experiences and cultures to the table, and want to open up this world of technology to the young minds of tomorrow. That’s why I’m here. It’s difficult at times as I work remotely now in the US when most of the team is in London. But it makes those times we see each other in person that much sweeter and enlightening.
Tell us one thing you do every day? Every week? And then every month? This could be anything in your life at all.
I engage with a community of photographers online that rallies around perfecting your craft and color grading. I do photography on the side, and engaging with these individuals, especially having just relocated to the Pacific Northwest, pushes me to keep pushing my work forward and make new connections.
I explore new areas of the Pacific Northwest. As a new resident, having just moved from Massachusetts, I want to get to know every inch of the PNW. Whether that is being lucky enough to see the mountain tops of Olympic National Park from my bedroom, hiking only 10 minutes from my house, or driving 3 hours there and back in a day, I want to keep exploring it all.
What is the most fun part of your job?
Events, and with that, travel to get to those events. I have always been a travel junky, my blood pumps with anticipation every night before I have to hop on a plane. Leading execution of our events in the Education space, specifically ISTE & BETT every year, is time & again a moment to remember. Whether it’s our UK colleagues coming to the US or us Americans heading over the pond to see the Queen, it’s always an absolute blast.
What do you see the future looking like for Kano?
At Kano, every single day is something new. So it is very difficult to attempt to forecast what Kano may look like in the ‘future.’
That being said, Kano isn’t Kano without breaking down barriers to technology and creativity. So whatever may be ahead of us, it will be right at the center of creative technology.
What does it take for someone to work at Kano? What skills do they need?
Skills can be taught, that’s actually oddly easy. They don’t tell you that in school.
More importantly, flexibility to change direction on a dime and start anew is a trait that will take you far here at Kano. So start stretching!
