My name is Brittany and I am a Mom from Houston, TX.
My husband and I are both computer science majors that were raised by school teachers. My mom(retired school teacher who still teaches), grandmother(retired school teacher), and aunt (social worker) worked with enriching kids most of the careers. My husband’s parents are both retired teachers who still tutor and help children when they can. We are lovers of education and learning new things!
I heard about Kano when I was scrolling through Instagram. I was so excited when the brand approached me to introduce my daughter to Kano! My daughter had been asking me about video games at 3 years old! To my surprise, her curiosity was met with her Kano PC coming in the mail. She absolutely loved it!
We have used the Kano for exploration and introduction to manipulating technology. She learned that we can tell computers or machines what to do and they will do it! She absolutely loves it and asks many questions. She even loves simple apps like Notepad and Paint!
I am home-schooling my daughter and it has been enjoyable. At first, we were at the dinner table learning and it was difficult. I believe it was the environment that caused a lot of problems with focus and attention. I decided to transform my upstairs into a colorful classroom and after a steady routine where we both know that it is time to learn, we both have been thriving! I have been receiving advice from my mother who is a retired teacher (and who is still teaching) and also from my best friend who has been an elementary school teacher for 15 years.
If I had to sum up Kano in one word, it would be…CREATIVE!
