We see technology as a force for good that can lead and inspire positive change. Do you?
Millions of young people want to make. They imagine things different and use computers to realize their ideas. But currently, it needs more than imagination to make, it takes hands-on experience. It takes time, patience and skill. It’s not like mixing elements on a canvas — it involves technology that requires building and coding systems. There was an artificial divide between the maker movement, hackers, developers and the public at large.
We know the future is uncertain. And it’s hard to imagine what…
My name is Marcio, but everyone calls me Junior, even though I’m older than most of the kids at Kano.
I’m officially an eCommerce Manager, but help out with all things marketing, from emails to memes, to testing stuff on our many websites and beyond.
I’m really into food DIY — things like making my own salamis, curing meat and fish, BBQ on a fire pit, pickling, that kind of stuff.
I also play in an industrial metal band with a singer who wears chaps with no trousers live.
That anything would happen to my kids.
I loved everything about…
When we were launched in 2013, through our record-breaking Kickstarter campaign, we set a new standard for brands everywhere.
Our message was simple. Transparency. Demystifying. Challenging.
Our products have enabled us to commit to changing the technology industry. For too long, too many brands have built devices without their customers in mind. People need to understand how the computers they used everyday work. But not only understand the mechanisms but be able to customise and develop a deep love for building their own tech. We kept challenging the traditional and new tech brands that focus on closed devices. …
Meet Alex Henderson, our newest member of the Kano team. Alex was actually a previous member of the family back in 2016 as a Customer Care Agent. He couldn’t resist coming back as our latest Data Engineer. We are happy to have him back and he’s already doing amazing things.
Tell us about you
I love STEM, specifically physics, maths and computer science, and recently finished my Physics degree at Imperial College London. There are so many exciting things happening in STEM right now and I’m driven to learn as much as possible.
Why did you join Kano?
Hey, my name is Zélia Capitão-Tavares, and I’m an elementary teacher with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) in Toronto, Canada.
This year in my role as a Hybrid Teacher Digital Lead Learners, I have been a part of a team where we provide support to Virtual School educators. This guidance comes in the form of leveraging the district digital learning tools and reinforcing academic progress. We do this through a series of focus group webinars and drop-in sessions and email. While also building resources for parents, educators and students to access away from our sessions.
It has been a…
As we entered the peak of the Summer during the month of June, we too saw sun, clear skies and beauty on Kano World.
June, as like every other month, gave our exceptional Kano World users more opportunity to inspire us with their creativity in full bloom. With that, we’ve decided to pick some of our favourite creations for this month, which was a difficult task in itself!
We’re starting off where we mean to continue with this exceptionally accurate Nintendo Switch design created by ‘SweetPuppy34’ all in Make Art!
We applaud the minimalist design, but also the exceptional attention…
Meet Jamie, our incredible Full Stack E-Commerce Engineer.
Feeling proud of the things I create, especially if the process was difficult. Watching people enjoy using the things I’ve helped make.
To make fun of stuff that people enjoy using and hopefully learn something in the process.
Managing to be with my girlfriend for over 8 years without her killing me.
Today, some of the most iconic art pieces in history aren’t being guarded in some suave gallery in Rome, New York, or Paris. They are instead found on the back of our laptops, in the fridges of our supermarkets, or on the box of a chicken nugget 6 piece.
We’re talking of course about logos, the little graphical symbols that have come to define some of the world’s biggest brands. The deep semiotics that has come to drive the iconography of our society is now more than just a logo.
The first-ever logo registered was by Bass Brewery in 1876…
In the digital world, we currently find ourselves in, we are constantly being inundated with brand new versions of the devices and software that are commonplace in today’s society.
Here at Kano, we are always intrigued by the latest and greatest iterations of tech the world has to give. But, we are equally as fascinated by first-of-a-kind emerging technologies that look to make the world a better place. …
At Kano, our ethos is simple. We make technology for creation, not just consumption. We strive to demystify the inner workings of technology in a fun, immersive, and collaborative way. By unlocking the doors of programming, art, music, and design to the many, not just a few.
Kano’s goal is to put the power of computing, coding, and digital making into as many hands as possible. We see technology as a force for good that can lead and inspire positive change.
Our story begins in 2013 when two friends, Alex and Yonatan were inspired by the creative nature of Alex’s…
